Silica Cement Admixture
The SILICA CEMENT ADMIXTURE is a volcanic ash supplement that acts as a vital cement supplement. With characteristics such as water-proofing, neutralizing alkali, providing strength, and avoiding efflorescence, it is an indispensable product in a country like Nepal where the alkalinity of cement is very high. Marron Trading has rapidly become a household name in the Nepali Engineering fraternity, often referred to simply as "SILICA".
Technical Overview
Silica Cement Admixture is made from Natural Volcanic ore. It is a natural amorphous mineral processed in a controlled environment to achieve uniform grain size and quality. In its finely divided state, it combines with calcium hydroxide (produced by hydrating Portland cement) in the presence of water to form stable calcium silicates. This pozzolanic reaction produces dense and durable concrete.
The presence of reactive silica reduces the heat of hydration, mitigating the adverse effects of rapid hydration reactions. Furthermore, grain and pore refinements increase resistance to water permeability, carbon dioxide, and aggressive agents like acids and sulfates, while significantly reducing bleeding.
In Japan, where seismic resilience is paramount, a compressive strength of 100 MPA (standard for 60-storey buildings) can be achieved by adding the suitable amount of Silica Cement Admixture.
Advantages of Silica Cement Admixture
- Improves the strength and design intensity by 40% and more.
- Enhances permeability for superior water resistance.
- Improves durability against salt water, acids, and aggressive agents.
- Prevents Efflorescence and resists segregation.
- Decreases the heat of hydration and improves freezing/thawing action.
- Creates a siliceous gel layer for a beautiful architectural finish.
- Improves self-healing effects of hair cracks and workability.
- High reactive silica content (above 86%) with long storage life.
- Prevents separation of aggregates and water during casing.
- Maintains smoothness and beauty of finished concrete.
